Due to unforeseen circumstances, my husband and I were forced to live 500 miles apart for the second time in our marriage. The first time, I religiously kept a blog chronicling our individual adventures while apart. This time, however, with three small children and a full-time job, my go-to escape during this time was reading romance novels.
While I had always been a writer, I was never much of a reader. Yet, I quickly fell in love with reading romance and, being a writer by nature, I worked tirelessly to write my own. From afar, my husband encouraged me every step of the way in pursuing my passion for writing.
Kicking Up Steam masterfully entwines the lives of two happily single characters through a mutual love of sports and one adorable little blonde boy, who just happens to be Mandy’s student and Nate’s nephew. They are both reluctant to admit that they are in any sort of relationship due to past heartbreak and their current major conflict of interest. With such craftily likable characters, readers are left rooting for their future.
As a writer in the depths of a vulnerable time in my life, my heart and soul was poured into the writing of this steamy romance. It provided an escape from the overwhelming life I had to live away from my husband. It also helped me find myself and prove that I could do things for me while still being a dedicated wife, mother, and public servant.
My hope is for Kicking Up Steam to provide an escape for anyone who may need it. I also hope it can serve as some form of inspiration for readers to never forget their passions, no matter what stage of life you might be in. If I can chase my dreams, so can you!
